In the UK, there are approximately 120 WISPs, ranging from small community operators to large scale commercial ISPs and hybrid Altnets who deliver both fibre and wireless connections. It is estimated that the total number of premises passed in the UK by WISPs is 2.15 million.
UKWISPA has over 100 WISPs in its membership and therefore represents around 90% of the operators in the UK.
There are currently between 100,000 and 200,000 premises connected in the UK using fixed wireless technology. These range from basic broadband at 30 Mbps to multi-gigabit commercial services.
