Meet the Advisory Board

Ian Bushrod

Working in the communications industry since the late 1980s, Ian held both engineering and educational roles before founding MS (Distribution) UK Ltd in 2002 which served the needs of the UK’s Wireless ISP industry with leading products and services, for many of UKWISPA’s members.

Ian is passionate about wireless technology and believes that, when deployed correctly, it has the ability to solve many issues that exist in today’s increasingly connected world. His role within UKWISPA honours his experience and contribution to this industry and he is always on hand and happy to advocate its member organisations to any that have an ear to listen.

Jenny Gillwald

Originally from Oxford, Jenny relocated to the Scottish Highlands 9 years ago. She has been the Operations Director for Cromarty Firth Wireless Networks Ltd since 2017.

Jenny has tremendous experience with building and operating a successful wireless network in the beautiful but often sparsely populated and harsh conditions of the Scottish Highlands.

Sharon McDermott

Sharon is originally from Liverpool, but now resides in Hampshire, where she runs her specialist telecoms legal and wayleave firms under the brand of Trenches Law, with business partner and husband, Terry Daniell. Other important people in her life are their son and two dogs (both named after Crystal Palace football players)! Some of Sharon's favourite things to do in her spare time include watching her son play football and cricket — come rain or shine! — walking the dogs, and partaking in a constant fitness and dieting mission!

Hal Ponton

Hal is a senior product and technology leader at Voneus, one of the UK's largest rural-focused broadband providers, where he leads the platforms and systems behind the company's hybrid fibre and fixed wireless networks.

Hal looks after UKWISPA's digital presence and brings a decade of experience in delivering connectivity to hard-to-reach communities.

Tim Porter

Tim is the CTO of Zycomm Electronics, based in Derbyshire, and head of their W3Z Broadband division which has been delivering FWA for over 20 years.

Tim has a very strong technical background and expertise in a range of licensed and license-exempt deployments.

George Taylor

George is an enthusiatic wireless engineer and climber and holds a senior position at Caudata, based in Sheffield. George is responsible for UKWISPA's interaction with BDUK in relation to various government backed schemes.
